Ah, August. August the 13th to be exact. Between now and the 16th things will be getting rough for some of the world’s golfing pro’s at this years PGA Championship. Will Tiger Woods win? Perhaps not as he doesn’t seem to be doing too well on the leader board at the moment.

The 91st PGA Championship is being played at the Hazeltine course in Chaska, Minnesota. Hazeltine is a private club giving visitors a chance to buy their way into watch the golfing tournament of the year.

The course has been home to some of the major golfing tournaments for decades hosting the ‘66 and ‘77 Women’s Open, the ‘70 and ‘91 U.S. Open and the ‘83 U.S. Senior Open.

When the 84th PGA Championship was played at the Hazeltine course in 2002 Rich Beam had to fend off Tiger Woods who birdied the last four holes; Beam won at the 10-under. Hazeltine will also be hosting the prestigious Ryder Cup in 2016.

The area is populated by many great golf courses and vacation destinations one of the most popular being the Grand View Lodge opening over 90 years ago in 1919. In 1990 the first on site golf course opened there; The Pine Golf Club. Since then two more have followed suit, Preserve course and Deacon’s Lodge course.

The Pine Golf Club has the honour of being named the only five star golf course in Minnesota by Golf Digest which is an amazing honour as Minnesota is home to some of the world’s best golf courses.
