Billy Madison (1995)
The Best Adam Sandler Movies On Satellite Tv
There are countless aspiring comics in Hollywood, but few ever realize their dreams. Some, like funny man Adam Sandler, actually do find successful careers and make a fortune off their roles in big budget comedies. Since his days on Saturday Night Live, he has had audiences laughing until it hurts and has played a variety of roles, though almost all of them have been laugh out loud hilarious. Sandler has also done some more serious roles, though, and while we are not used to seeing him in such a light, his more dramatic work is evidence that he is a truly talented actor. You could truly make an entire weekend out of watching all the best Adam Sandler movies. Just lock yourself in your living room, flip on your HD tv, and get ready to laugh. Here are some favorites to get you started:
Billy Madison (1995)- This is a hilarious movie about an adult heir to a million dollar fortune who must go back to school in order to inherit the family business. He must make it through 12 grades, spending 2 weeks in each grade in order to prove to his father that he is fit to take over, though obviously there are several bumps along the way. Sandler is hilarious as Billy Madison, an over grown kid who must finally mature.
Happy Gilmore (1996)- Truly one of the best sports comedies of all time, this laugh out loud movie about a hockey player turned pro golfer shows Sandler at his best. After Happy Gilmore’s hockey career falls apart and his beloved grandmother’s house goes up for auction, he reluctantly enters the world of pro golf to come up with enough money to save the house. While he is anything but your average golfer, he discovers he has a golf drive that no player on the circuit can rival. Happy’s feud with fellow golfer Shooter McGavin is truly what makes the movie.
The Wedding Singer (1998)- This role made Adam Sandler a household name, starring opposite Drew Barrymore as wedding singer Robbie who becomes disgruntled with his career after his fiancé dumps him. Robbie eventually meets and falls in love with Julia (played by Barrymore), who is unfortunately engaged to a man that is far from Prince Charming. Robbie eventually wins Julia over, and in the process, learns to believe in love again. Even if you’re not a fan of romantic comedies, the 80’s soundtrack and nostalgic hairstyles are entertaining in their own right.
Reign Over Me (2007)- This film was one of the first times Sandler ventured into a dramatic role, though he proved himself more than capable. As Charlie Fineman, a man who lost his family on September 11, Sandler is deeply moving. After he has fallen into a complete emotional hole, Charlie runs into his old college roommate Alan (played by Don Cheadle). Through reconnecting and rekindling their friendship, Alan helps pull Charlie out of his depression and teaches him how to enjoy life once again. It is a truly powerful film that is worth checking out.
