Bury sit in fourth position, and we’ve done that with every single member of the squad spending some part of the season out injured, three of them seriously and requiring injuries. Last season after 26 games, Bury could be found in 5th position with 40 points. Twelve months on we sit in 4th position and on 45 points. One place and five points better than last season, and that’s the key point for the management – better than last season.

It makes you wonder what could have been, if we hadn’t lost those games at the start of the season?, if we hadn’t lost key players to serious injury? and if we hadn’t lost so many games to the weather?

Getting Bishop back is like signing a new player. He’s in good fettle, he’s keen, he’s mentally strong, he’s raring to go and extremely keen to get his boots out. The gaffer may even find himself having to reign him in, slow him down and force him not to push it to hard.

The east Lancs. derby game is probably the one game that both sets of fans look for in June when the fixtures are released. They are never quiet boring games, there’s usually that spark, that connection and that atmosphere that raises the bar. Both will again find themselves on the bench waiting for the chance to re-claim their shirts.

Rochdale sit at the top of the pile seven points clear of the rest and eleven points clear of Bury. They’ve had a fantastic season, they’ve scored four or more goals no less than five times this season, they’ve scored more goals than anyone else. They seem to be on track, they look like they could finally get out of this division – their first time since the late sixties. Flying is one word used quite often by the pundits – but the season is far from over, they are still catchable, they haven’t won it yet.

Keith Hill and Flickers have been very astute in the way they’ve gone about there jobs, they’ve produced a good side and have brought two more players in to help their cause. Blackburn’s Frank Fielding in goal and a striker from Bolton – bet he gets a good reception at Gigg Lane.

Keith Hill insists there is no pressure on his side heading into Monday’s crunch showdown at promotion rivals Bury. Dale have not won promotion since 1969 and have resided in the bottom tier of English football since 1974.
