Essay on “Teachers,Parents & Discipline in schools” Help,! need thesis statement!?
I have to write an argumentative essay on Teachers, parents & discipline in schools, but can’t think of a thesis statement, can anyone help.
This is my introduction:
One of the main characteristics of an operative school is effect discipline. A constant challenge for principals and teachers is continuity in the areas of truancy, bullying and violent behaviour towards teachers and other students. According to Squelch, “In 2001, there were 14964 suspensions in WA schools, mostly for students physically abusing fellow students and teachers and breaking school rules.”(2006,p247). Effective discipline can only be obtained through the collaboration of parents and teachers.
I think the statement “Effective discipline can only be obtained through the collaboration of parents and teachers” would be my thesis statement. Does anyone else have any other ideas???
That was the gist of what I was going to say. My mother is teacher so I know what teachers say about parents behind their back and vice versa in that I’ve been in ADD discussion groups that blame teachers for antagonizing their already over-stimulated children…. Instead of placing blame where it doesn’t belong, on teachers and parents, give the child the responsibility for their poor choices or lack of self control. Acknowledge the fact that they are kids and they will test the limits and boundaries b/c of their inexperience in life in general. Once parents and teachers realize its the immaturity of the children, not a lax in values, it can put the responsibility on the person who took the undesired action. Be sure to enforce punishments at home and school that will make a child reflect and feel the repercussions of their poor choices in behavior. Making the child see a unified front with teachers and parents will also give them a much needed boost their esteem to see adults caring about their character. One thing I’m always saying to children and adults is “I know your mother raised you better than that. I also know you are good person & you know what is the right thing to do.” Also giving the child a chance to apologize, a do over, or some type of reparations is key to encouraging people to do the right thing and helping them feel of worth. When people feel worthy they act like it and it will improve the atmosphere of the school, the home, and our world they will be impacting as adults. Hope I helped, take care.
