Corrupt (1999)
End of Society as we know it?
Recently, gas prices in the United States have hit a record high; crude oil is selling at $120 a barrel, compared to $8 a barrel in January 1999. Currently, The United States is also in a housing crisis. the government is corrupt and healthcare doesnt work. Is this the beggining of the downfall of the United States? Is this the beginning of the end of society as we know it?
Yes, i realize that other situations in our past have been worse and we have survived, but foreign relations what it is today….im just saying that during the great depression there werent any nuclear weapons for rival nations to attack us. Certain terrorist organizations and countries that support terrorism could take advantage of us in our weakened state. Couldnt the state of the world today effect how this will end?
Given the sensationalist tone of modern press coverage, it’s all too easy to lose a sense of historical perspective. Relative to the Great depression, the stagnation of the 1970’s, and even the more modest recession of the early 1990’s, current economic conditions are fairly benign. Enormously graver challenges have thus far failed to “end society as we know it”; there is no reason to expect that this cycle of unfavorable conditions will produce less favorable outcomes.
