Damnation Alley (1977)
why was albany, ny chosen as the last possible remnant of civilization in the movie damnation alley?
in 1977 someone decided to make a movie titled damnation alley staring jan-michael vincent. the movie is set in post world war three, in a nuclear holocaust. the band of ragtag survivors found a signal emitting from albany, ny, possibly the last place remaining on earth, and the plot of the entire movie revolves around their odyssey to traverse the scorched earth to get to albany. the thing that bothers me the most is why was albany, ny chosen as humankind’s last bastion in a dystopian future. haven’t these survivors suffered enough?
Having only seen the movie when it first came out, I have to rely on spotty memory, but is it possible Albany was spared from the missiles because there was no strategic value in bombing it? Or maybe (tongue in cheek) the enemy thought it was already destroyed?
