318 engine?

i have a 1971 dodge demon that has a 225 slant six in it and i want to buy a remanufactured 318 chrysler engine to swap with the 225. to buy the reman 318, does it have to be the same year as the car? i mean could i buy a 1987 year 318 engine to put in my 71 demon?

No it doesn’t have to be the same year. Are you looking to go with fuel injection are carbs? This will affect the amount of parts you will have to buy besides the mounts and some fab work to line everything up. Good luck
