1988 f150 5.0L(302) engine problems?

SOMETIMES NOT ALWAYS i have a rough idle, start then die, hard start, and misfire what would be the cause of this and how to fix it?? ANYTHING HELPS!!

Start by checking and or changing spark plugs, checking the plug wires and replacing as needed, check cap and rotor ( a hairline crack in the cap can allow moisture to enter causing misfire until engine warms up and drives out moisture) then check the IAC for free operation (they can get carboned up and stick) and check EGR valve for the same condition (carbon buildup causing it to stick open when should be closed). Have also seen on high mileage trucks the throttle plate bushings wearing out and allowing the plate to stick in a partially open postion, check it for free movement and no play.
