Fade To Black (1980)

video recorded on 1980’s video camera help.?

i have a video tape that was recorded i think in 88. and it keeps fading to black but the audio keeps playing and then fades back to the video. is there anyway to fix this? and why is it doing it?

80s cameras had fade buttons and folk thought they were great. Over use.
