Family Plot (1976)
There is a movie called “Network” (produced 1976). Why was it rated as R?
Do you recommend that the family watches it?
Violence is tolerable, but I don’t want to see indecent scenes. So do you recommend the film?
I read a lot about the film and the plot sounds really cool. But I’m hesitant.
Thanks.
Most likely, it got the R rating due to profanity and one sex scene. However, the parental content advisory on the movie’s IMDB entry describes the sex scene as non-explicit.
Back in the 70s, even one F-bomb was enough to get a movie rated R for profanity alone. If Network came out today, it would probably be rated PG-13, depending on what the MPAA thought of the sex scene. So I guess the question about whether the film is family-appropriate depends on how you feel about the foul language. Hope that helps!
