For Love Of The Game (1999)

Why do the Detroit Lions always suck? they have not been to the playoffs since 1999, and it goes on?

they have the longest championship game appearence drought in NFL history, used to be second-longest until the the Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl last year and lost to the Steelers, last time they won was in 1957, the pre-Super Bowl era, and the last time they won a playoff game was 1991, and the last time they appeared in the AFC championship game was 1991. How come the owner and general manager of the Detroit Lions do not make an effort to end these droughts? Do they just love losing? Personally, I am not Lions fan, but I feel sorry for a team losing all the time.
How come they never get good Coaches or draft good players? c’mon, teams with the worst record always get the number 1 pick in the NFL draft, but why do the Lions always get the worst players?
Overall, what are the main reasons why they always suck? I feel very sorry for their fan base.

Management is inept, a-la-Al-Davis. No way around this one. The best teams have the best coaches, assistants, managers, owners, etcetera. All the talent in the world means nothing if they are not implemented into a system sought after by the coaches. Some of it’s luck too, as there is no perfect system, just good leadership on the sideline and in the luxury suites.
