frequency response curve – why does it ’shorten’?
2 questions please:
If you look at the ‘hz’ part of a typical frequency response curve chart, it goes from 100 then 1000 then 10000 it seems to ‘multiply’ as it goes up. Why isn’t it ‘even’, like 100, 1000, 2000?
And if you look at the segments between 100 and 1000, the first ’segment’ is almost 1/3 across to 1000, then the following segments get shorter and shorter – why doesn’t this mess up the graph?
It’s a logarithmic scale.
…, 0.1, 1, 10, 10^2, 10^3, …
The ticks between are at 2, 4, 6, 8 probably.
The first one is at about 1/3 because log10(2) = 0.3010
