What steps should I take to replace the vinyl top on my Cadillac?

I am a college student who is restoring a 1972 Cadillac Fleetwood over summer vacation. I have removed the front and rear windshields, and I have taken off the side window molding that was holding down the old vinyl top. I ripped off the top and scraped away all the fuzz and most of the glue. Now before I jump into putting glue on the roof and slapping on the new top I want to know how to do it right, but I can’t find any good tips or instructions on the internet, and the replacement roof I bought came with no instructions. What kind of glue should I buy and how should I go about putting on the new roof? Thank you, David.

You need to use a contact cement, 4 quarter inch wooden
dowels and the assistance of a friend. Brush on the contact
cement on the roof of the car and the bottom of the new
roof and let them both tack up. Place the 4 dowels on the
roof of the car equally spaced from the front to the back.
Start with the rear of the car, pick up the new vinyl roof and
place it on the rear, press down and use a “J” roller if you
have one. When you reach one of the dowels, pull it out
and keep going. The dowels are to help you lay down the
roof without touching the cement. Make sure to roll the
entire roof as you go to prevent air bubbles.
