2001 chevy venture over heating help ?

ive got a 2001 chevy venture with the 3.4 litre, it seems to over heat everyonce in a while, when the van was first purchased it needed a new thermostat,, we changed that and now every once in a while it just spikes right up, curious as to what ur though is on this, im not leaking rad fluid, no rad fluid in the oil, no oil in the rad, not sure if theirs air in the line, if their is, how do i burp it? and i heard theirs a possiblity that it could be something with the heatercore, because when it acts up and over heats heater doesnt blow out hot air ,, only cold. it has gotten hot enough to activate the warning gage at 175 and enough to shut the van off… thanks for any help
180k is on the motor im def not leaking any fluid anywhere. its not burning out the exhaust . no blue smoke, i was told possibly waterpump, head gasket, cracked head, airbubble in the motor from changing the thermostast it leaked the fluid out of the motor. when it over heats, its not pushing the fluid to the rad

there is a possibility that your water pump is getting tired you do not mention the miles on the vehicle, sometimes that helps in elusive problems, keep an eye on the fluid levels, getting it to a mechanic is going to be a good idea, he can flow test the radiator, pressure test the system and fix the problem, good luck
