Why didn’t the Giants and Dodgers stay in New York?
When they moved, they ended such a great rivalry in baseball. Between the years 1921 and 1956, there were so many great Subway World Series matchups against the Yankees.
O’Malley saw the great potential of the West Coast and convinced the Giants owner to follow him out to California. I doubt I’d be a baseball fan if NY still had 3 teams, since my family became Dodgers fans back in 1958.
Obviously O’Malley was right, since moving to LA, no one has had more fans spinning the turnstiles than the Dodgers
