Jehovah’s Witness and the United Nations position?
Can any JW here explain to me and the audience why the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was associated with the United Nations for over 10 years as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)? Especially in light of the WTBTS position that the UN is the “scarlet colored beast.” Please don’t say it was for “library access,” registration as an NGO is not and never was necessary for access to the UN Library.

You will never get a true answer to what happened. Their current position is that once they discovered that they were “associated” w/ the UN, they withdrew their name. However, research has lead some to indicate that they are still listed.
The other question to be raised is … if JWs are all about how something could POSSIBLY bring reproach upon Jehovah’s name (and there are those who have been df’d because of this) how is it acceptable for the WTBTS to allow its name to be associated with the thing that is claims is unclean and expect other to not be “stumbled” by that information coming to light.
For a religion that takes a black and white approach to everything, they expect a lot from people to simple look the other way when they do something “wrong” by their own standards. For example, if an individual could sign up for a UN library card, would the WTBTS find that acceptable? Absolutely Not.
