Half Baked (1998)

1998 gmc 4×4 . brakes? can anyone help???

the bakes are new and so are the rotors. squeeks and lightly grinds in the drivers side front (sometimes) then quits. the bearings are still tight with very little play at all. almost no play.when i hear the squeak i try to apply the brake to listen for the noise to increase,but it dosen’t effect the noise at all. could it be the old calipers or cv boot (half shaft for the 4 wheel drive) the rotors on the drivers side are alot hotter than the passenger side. the problem is i don’t know if the cv boot will cause the rotor to become warmer if it is going out. or the caliper is hanging up. twice i felt a slight pull twards the drivers side. please help

I would look at the passenger side caliper. It may be sticking and not applying as much pressure as the drivers side. Did you do the brakes? Sometimes the dust shield gets bent and starts scrubbing on the rotor. I would check both front rotors, inside and outside, to see if there are any signs of metal to metal contact. The cv axle shouldn’t make any noise. If the bearings are good in the drivers side it is probably a brake problem. Jack it up and spin the front wheels.
