How does my girlfriend end her 20 year waiting to her married boyfriend?

She started out being friends with this guy when she was 19 years old. He was her boyfriend at the time’s brother in law. When they broke up, the married brother in law approached her and said he loved her and had to get to her to tell her. By this time she was 22 years old. So, she started seeing him and fell in love with him. He said he needed time to straighten out his life(pay off bills, etc). He has no kids with his wife and they have never owned their own home. He finally did move out in 1991 for about a week and went back telling my friend he needed to save money. He wanted to go to school. He did that in Florida and my friend would go visit him and finally he moved back after everything fell through and moved back with his wife. That was 13 years ago. My friend has broken up with him off and on but then gone back. The last time they were broken up for a year. Now he is saying he has changed but is still dragging his feet. How do I help her stay away from him?

You can’t do that for her, it has to be her who is strong enough and smart enough to see that she is just a booty call and an idiot who is dumb enough to have an affair with a married man for so long. All you can do is be there for her and help her see the error of her ways.
