I just bought a 1995 Mercedes S500 From an auction, when i start up the car heavy white smoke comes out?

from the exhaust, what could this be from? i checked the oil and its fine, the car also starts right up.

thats good, it has a blown head gasket, if it smells sweet that is the antifreeze burning in the combustion chamber, so park it, and take it to the mechanic and hope the head has not warped from being overheated. This is exactly why buying auction cars is something I never do. I refuse to buy a car I cannot drive for at least 30 minutes. Unfortunatly dealers play this con game everyday, they shovel used usually good looking cars with major problems and try to get someone to take a chance, I hope you got a good price, buying unknown undriven cars is an expensive game sometimes. good luck I have no idea what a head and repair costs are for a mercedes, but I know its not cheap, on the plus side, mercedes will come out and give you a jump start if you ever need one.
