Hellraiser (1987)
Why remake HELL RAISER???????????
*I was on one of the regular movie sites I look at when I found this*HELLRAISER REMAKE- This project is in the very early stages of development, as there’s not even a script yet, but the plans are set and Clive seems very interested in revisting the film.
- It’s unknown whether Doug Bradley will return as Pinhead.
- The Pinhead in this film will be different from the one we’ve grown to love.
- Clive said that he plans to have this to be both the beginning and end of Pinhead.
- This film will have an obviously bigger budget, with hopes to do things that the original could never do.
- The Weinstein Company is behind this.
- Clive will serve as writer and producer to this redux, as he was detailed saying that he’d feel too weird to direct a remake of his own movie.
- This is a remake of the classic 1987 Clive Barker film.
.*Why do they like to remake movies that were already great the first time?*
I totally agree with you. I understand Barker’s reasoning and he likes the idea of the bigger budget I am sure. Without Doug Bradley, it seems dumb. He is so amazingly frightening. I am willing to see it when it comes out, and I will do my best to withhold my judgement until the end. It’s got to be about the money to some degree…I really think that Barker wants to see it done with all that extra money. I get the impression he had to make sacrifices on the first one, sacrifices that he really would like to avoid this time around. It is sort of sad that they think the only way to bring in a big audience is to remake old favorites. I don’t think it’s a lazy thing, I think it’s a desperation thing. They know that people don’t go to the theaters much anymore…they know we want more story in less time. No makes a movie longer than 100 minutes (Peter Jackson excluded) I really can’t say what the real reason or motivation is…I hope it’s good, I hope it does well, I hope I don’t hate it.

$9.97 Having made his reputation as one of the most prolific and gifted horror writers of his generation (prompting Stephen King to call him "the future of horror"), Clive Barker made a natural transition to movies with this audacious directorial debut from 1987.
