1976 350 4 barrel carb i put in my 88 caprice?

well i changed it from a 4.3 v6 to a 350 carbrated its a 1976 motor it will start up but she has a ruff ideal sound like she is starving but she is not. i put new plugs in her she does not back fire i brought it up on number 1 plug and the rotor still points at number one. she over heats realy fast she does not have a shroud at the moment. for some reason we cant figure out why u cant choke it out and why she is so gutlless you can feel the power and hear it but when u put her to he floor she barely wants to kick down what could it be. its got a quadrashit carb on it but it dont backfire out the carb so i think the carb is good what should i do thats cheap for now to check out what it could be PLEASE
well i dont know what to do we tried advancing the timeing and retared it still is the same what do u guys mean the marks for the timing on the harmonic balancer

Adjust the kick down cable,or hook it up.
To tune it, get it running warmed up, and idling then adjust the lean/rich screw to the rich side untill it starts to sputter and not run good,right when it starts ,not too much, and then back the screw just a bit to the lean side and ot will idle better,that and the adjusted kick down cable ought to help you out.
