In Too Deep (1999)

What’s your favorite All-Star Game moment?

If we’re talking the actual game, mine is seeing good-field-no-hit catcher Terry Steinbach take the Mets’ Dwight Gooden deep in Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium (which was not a hitters’ park) in 1988. As a Yankee Fan, I loved that, big-time. (Who knew then that Doctor K would pitch a no-hitter for the Yankees?)

But the pregame ceremony at Fenway in 1999 tops ‘em all. All those legends on the field, and seeing them all gather around Ted Williams, it was like seeing all of baseball come together. It was just too bad Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Roberto Clemente and Jackie Robinson (who would have been 80, younger than DiMaggio, so it was possible if he didn’t have diabetes) couldn’t be a part of it. And it was too bad Sandy Koufax didn’t show up. It would have been as close to a perfect moment as we could ever get in baseball.

My favorite allstar game moment is when the american team every year goes home with a beast trophy every year so far after 1996. ANd they wil win tonight
