1996 Dodge Ram Stereo Probs?

It has the infinity system in it stock. Sony headunit. I changed the back two speakers and it started blowing fuses, so i tried to isolate the problem by unhooking the speakers one by one. that didnt work so i started rewiring the back speakers from the headunit. I got the two back speakers wired and they both worked then about two mins later one got fuzzy and quit working. I unhooked it and checked it on another stereo and it still worked. So i put it back in and now the radio says failure and only one speaker works (only the two back are wired up). Should I completely rewire the headunit. Any suggestions. Thanks

well on the infinity systems in dodge’s the system has a factory external amplifier, if i am thinking correctly is on each indvidual speaker, on some it is 1 amp that does the whole system. hopefully you didn’t cut the factory plug. if you ha ve i hope you kept the plug. go to a stereo store and get the harness that plugs into your factory harness. I recommend metra harnesses. use the blue wire on the metra harness to the blue wire on the sony harness. that will powerup the factory amp. from what you have described i really don’t know how far you have gotten into this project. so if you need help e-mail me
