Iris (2001)

Is there a story about Hercules and Brutius, who turns into different creatures?

In the 2001 movie called Iris starring Judi Dench and Kate Winslet, there is a brief scene where Kate’s character is saying:

“Remember Brutius. I’m like Brutius, you’ve got to keep holding on to me the same way Hercules held on to him. Even when he turned into a lion or a fish or a snake.”

I don’t know if the quote is exact or if she does say “Brutius”, but that’s the best I could do.

Does anyone know of the story that is mentioned here? Or if this is even really the quote?

That’s “Proteus” ;-)

“I’m like Proteus. You’ve got to keep hold of me the way Hercules kept hold of him, even though he changed into a lion… and a fish… and a snake. Whoo!”
