Koyaanisqatsi (1983)

Where in the 1983 film “Koyaanisqatsi”, is the scene with the former Embarcadero Freeway in San Francisco?

I looked all throughout the DVD and I can’t find it. If anyone knows where in the film it is, it would be helpful.

I believe it’s in the sequence called, “The Grid”.

You’ll first see some shots of highway traffic, shopping carts, Twinkies, and televisions on an assembly line. Then some elevators. Then you have cars along the elevated freeway California State Route 480 (later demolished due to damage from the 1989 earthquake), and people on escalators to the PATH station below the World Trade Center.

That earthquake happened just 2 years after I moved away from California.

OK, maybe you didn't leave the theater humming the tunes (although I do remember going around chanting that thrillingly ...
