The 20th Century was filled with many great sporting events. These events include the USA defeating the Soviet Union in hockey at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, the first Winter Olympics in 1924 in Chamonix, France, the New York Yankees winning the 1998 World Series, the United States of America winning the 1999 Women’s World Cup in the United States, and the last MLB game at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan.
