Little Big Man (1970)

Should the BBC license fee be scrapped and the beeb made to take adverts?

The BBC employes 27000 people but in reality can get by with only 5000. Their income would fall dramatically if they took adverts but the public would not feel conned, as we are living in the age of choice it is not 1970 with only 3 channels. If the BBC dissapeared tomorrow it would not be a big deal as they rarely produce anything of worth channel 4 takes more risks and produces much more entertaining, educational and worthy programming with 5% of the BBCs budget. The BBC is hung up with ethnic quotas producing shite like little miss jocelyn and trying to promote ethnic radio, it has lost its way and in the modern age a national broadcaster cant be all things to all men. Sky and ITV are just as bad charging us fortunes and producing not very much. Thank god for channel 4.

I don’t have a tv for the plain reason that I can’t afford the telly licence, and I have told them but we still get nasty letters from them. I appreciate that the BBC is a nice little thing, like they provide education and entertainment, but it’s not worth the cost of the television each year.

With Faye Dunaway, Chief Dan George, J...
