Lost In America (1985)
Can I get a Jamaican passport?
I was born in London in 1985. I was told a few weeks ago that I cannot get a british passport because I am not classed as a British Citizen. My mother was born in Jamaica came to this country in 1954. She lost her paperwork(right of abode certificate) and I am due to get married in America in November so I am scrambling to find out whether I can apply for a Jamaican passport? if I can I know I can get one in 5 days but I would just let to know if anyone has any ideas on the subject.
Thanks
If you are born in a country no matter where your parents are from (especially a common wealth country) you are a citizen of that country. As long as you have your birth certificate you should have no problem .
