Mob Hits - Music From and a Tribute to the Great Mob Movies
$15.32 As you may already know from seeing it hawked incessantly on late-night TV by Jerry Vale, Mob Hits is a compilation CD that attempts to capture the ambience of the modern gangster pic by assembling songs heard in key scenes of such films as The Godfather, GoodFellas, Donnie Brasco, and Casino. While licensing restrictions keep the music of Frank Sinatra from being part of this collection (odd, as ... |

Mafia [VHS]
$5.78 This hapless comedy may actually work a lot better on video than it did in theaters. A parody of contemporary mob movies (with a few sidebars skewering such hits as Forrest Gump and The English Patient), Mafia! most closely resembles the first two Godfather films in its generational saga of a gangster family. Lloyd Bridges plays Don Cortino, a native Sicilian who presides over a crime syndicate... |

Mafia!
$5.95 Satirist Jim Arahams returned with this comedy spoofing the Godfather trilogy, and other films and TV, including Jurassic Park, Lord of the Dance, and Barney. The opening emulates a Saul Bass sequence with Anthony Cortino (Jay Mohr) in a flight amid flames much like Robert De Niro in the Casino credits. After flashbacks go back in time to Sicily, Coppola/Scorsese references abound. Young Vincenzo (Jason Fuchs) travels to America to later become the clumsy chief of organized crime (with the late Lloyd Bridges as the aging Vincenzo) with his sons -- short-fused Joey (Billy Burke) and educated Anthony. Tony's WASP fiancee is Diane (Christina Applegate), recalling Diane Keaton in the Coppola films. During the wedding, assassins try to do away with Don Vincenzo, who's hospitalized, so Tony sets out to gain revenge for the murder attempt. In Vegas, Tony gets involved with showgirl Pepper (Pamela Gidley). When betrayals begin, can violence be far behind? This was Lloyd Bridges' final movie, and the film is dedicated to him. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi |

Marrying the Mafia
$12.44 A fish-out-of-water gangster comedy featuring two of Korea's hottest young stars, Gamunui Yeonggwang (aka Marrying the Mafia) weaves a humorous tale of chance meeting and bizarre circumstance. Waking up one morning next to the beautiful Jang Jin-kyeong (Kim Jeong-eun) without any recollection of how he got there, hotshot young lawyer Park Dae-seo (Jeong Jun-ho) learns to his horror that his newfound bedmate is the daughter of a notorious mob kingpin (Park Geun-hyeong). As her protective older brother In-tae (Yu Dong-geun) insists that Park marry Jang in order to maintain his honor, it's soon revealed that In-tae has schemed to improve his family name by forcing the up-and-coming lawyer to marry his sister. Though the new couple seems to get along regardless of their odd circumstances, their romance is quickly challenged by Park's longtime girlfriend, Yu-jin (Lee Seo-yeon), who has no intentions of letting her man go so easily. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi |
