The Blues Brothers (1980)

Why aren’t any movies filmed in Augusta, Georgia?

I’ve noticed that movies have filmed in cities like Harvey, Illinois (for some scenes in “The Blues Brothers” (1980)) and Arlington, Virginia (for the upcoming movie “Night at the Museum 2″ (200?)). Sometimes, they film in neighboring cities close to the major cities or whatever city they’re filming in. So, a question came to me…. Why don’t they film movies here in Augusta, Georgia and other cities here in Georgia?
Wow, MystMoonstruck. That’s a pretty good long list of videos, shows, and what not filmed here in Georgia! O_O ^_^ Thanks! :)

I found these listed on IMDB:
Basketweave (2006)
A Place Apart (1999 TV movie)
That Darn Cat (1997)

Sorry. Most were shorts or documentaries, so I deleted them. So, here are at least three filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ll see if I can find any other cities that have been filming locations.

Follow this IMDB link, which lists titles with Georgia as a film site. You can click on any film title, and it will take you to the IMDB page, which will list exact shooting locations if available. There are several pages of listings, so you might find a number of movies there. If I had the time, I actually would do it for you, but I need to be elsewhere. At least it’s a place to start!

Inspired by the lovable Saturday Night Live white-boy blues schtick of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, director John Landis seemingly threw every harebrained stunt he could imagine--and millions of dollars in production costs and wrecked autos--onto the screen.
