The Bourne Identity (2002)
The Bourne Series Is a Classic Spy Thriller
The Jason Bourne series of movies are actually based on a series of books created by the author Robert Ludlum. By far the Jason Bourne books are Ludlum’s most successful and have been created into a series of three motion pictures. The Bourne movies are a modern day type of espionage thriller that differs much from James Bond, but at the same time there are many similarities between the two. The first Jason Bourne, the Bourne Identity, was released in 2002 and the most recent movie, The Bourne Ultimatum, was released in 2007. These movies can all be seen on many different channels from you satellite television subscriber.
Jason Bourne, like James Bond, was a character who was adapted to the film screen from a series of novels. Jason Bourne also originally worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, and James Bond worked for MI-6, the British equivalent of the CIA. They are both part of governmental espionage organizations, but other than that, there characters differ greatly. The focus of the Bourne series is that he is an agent who has gone rogue, and it is the goal of the Central Intelligence Agency to stop him. At some points in the James Bond series, he disobeys orders as well, but in the end, he always makes peace with his superiors. This is not the case with Jason Bourne.
Bourne was a government agent in a secret Agency program that was designed to create assassins who were physically and mentally skilled at handling the situations they were put in. If they wound up dead, their identity would never be traced back to the government, so they were essentially expendable assassins used to do the dirty work for the CIA. However in the first film, The Bourne Identity, Jason Bourne fails to complete his mission because he has a momentary lapse of reason. He is almost killed by the person he was sent to kill, but is miraculously saved floating in the ocean.
After this, it becomes the sole purpose of the organization that he works for, to eliminate and destroy him. He has gone rogue and they need to stop him before someone is able to trace him back to the government and blow the cover on the organization. This proves to be a much harder task than originally planned because he is essentially the most skilled operative that they have. Bourne however has no memory and he is trying to understand who he is and why these people want him dead.
Over the course of the three films, Bourne has more and more flashbacks which help him understand who he is, but all the while he is avoiding death and danger from the former people who were his bosses. He receives unexpected help from two employees in the Agency while everyone else is working against him. He finally retraces his steps to where his career began, but it is unsure of where Jason Bourne will be next.
You can watch all of the Jason Bourne movies in high definition from a satellite television provider. All three are incredibly suspenseful and well worth the time. You can also record all the movies with a DVR receiver available from your satellite company so you can watch all the films without commercial interruption. The Jason Bourne series is an action film series that is a classic already.
