The Celluloid Closet (1995)
I want to see this film but I only saw a clip of it in the 1995 doc The Celluloid Closet?
Does anyone remember The Celluloid Closet? A documentary surveying the various Hollywood screen depictions of homosexuals and the attitudes behind them throughout the history of North American film.
It showed this clip, its a black & white movie, with a woman in black dress standing in a burning building & the ceiling is in flames & you see the roof fall on her.
I don’t know anything about this film, but it looks like an interesting movie.
Does anyone know what it is called?
hmm.. well, the only two that I can think of that would have been black/white are Maedchen in Uniform or The Killing of Sister George or something like that.. I don’t recall a burning scene in Maedchen (I have that one).. so I’d assume the other..
I have the book (that the documentary started out as).. I’ll double check it in a few minutes..
Wow.. I haven’t thought about that book/documentary in awhile.. lol.. but I do believe you are describing Rebecca.. (I didn’t remember that scene, but just looked it up and sure enough.. Mrs. Danvers dies in flames.. )
