The Cider House Rules (1999)
Who do you think should have won Best S. Actor in 1999: Haley J. Osment or Micahel Caine?
This is a not and easy choice for anyone i don’t think. While the Academy was voting, these two were neck to neck. For me, I truly believe that Haley Joel Osment should have won, for his very strong preformance in a great movie. What he did in that movie, is nothing short of amazing, and for his age that was quite impressive. Then we have Micahel Caine, who is a fabulous actor, and is well respected by his peers. But, i mean c’mon! The man already had his Oscar for Hannah and her Sisters, and did not give the strongest preformance in The Cider House Rules, even though it may have been a great movie. I really think Osment, was robbed an Oscar, for a preformance that truly on of the best ever.
Out of the two, HJO, because it is one of the best child performances ever, while Michael Caine was just good.
Tom Cruise in Magnolia is the best of all the nominees though, and deserved the Oscar.
