The Driver (1978)

Porsche 924 reliability?

Just curious on how reliable these guys are.

found a decent condition 1978 one for 3k. been maintained well.

I know they don’t have a Porsche designed engine, I believe its from audi? is that bad, good?

will the timing belt be expensive like other Porsche’s (944’s)?

pros/cons?

It will be a daily driver, and I would like to do most small stuff myself.

I drive about 15km back and forth from work/school everyday! (highways!) little bit scared

Thanks!!

as long as it’s been maintained well, and you are willing to get a little dirty working on it. they are reliable cars, but can be a bit tempermental if not taken good care of. the timing belt job isn’t all that difficult, if you have some mechanical ability. it just needs to be done properly. the engine is a good one, again, if it’s been maintained. 3000 sounds like a good amount. buy it, have fun with it, learn about german engineering. :)

Until 1978, Blondie was perceived mostly as a '60s-referencing, British-Invasion-meets-girl-groups band. With veteran producer Mike Chapman at the helm for their third album, though, everything changed for this group bred from the New York punk scene. Honing in on Blondie's strongest points--Deborah Harry's come-hither vocals and Clem Burke's powerhouse drumming--Chapman helped recast the band to ...

The setting is the wonderful 2,000-seat Marin Veteran's Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael, the last of 12 acoustic shows John and Jerry played that winter. It'd been a solid tour, with sold-out concerts in a number of cool East Coast venues. But this was a hometown show - literally - so the air was both relaxed and festive. The twelve songs collected here on a single disc are the complete two-set ...

A tres cool mix of noirish grit and slam-bang action this caper film from director Walter Hill (48 Hrs, The Warriors) is required viewing for car-chase fanatics and devotees of '70s cinema. Ryan O'Neal and Bruce Dern are terrific as opposite sides of the law: respectively, a supernaturally skilled getaway car driver, and the dogged detective who's pursued him at the expense of all else. For ...

Clint Eastwood's 1978 comedy introduces Filo Beddoe, a truck driver and mechanic whose daily life is an absurd grind. He's constantly coming up short on money, love, and anything else to help him get through the day, while also saddled with a loony mother (deliciously played by Ruth Gordon), a best friend (Geoffrey Lewis) who's not too swift on the uptake, and an orangutan named Clyde who fights a...
