The Golden Child (1986)

Help me identify this fantasy / children’s book.?

I had it out of the library when I was probably around 10 so that’s like 1986. It featured a youth with golden skin who was looked after by a monk. They traveled in a D&D type fantasy land and possibly encountered a dragon at some point. There were two books in the series as I recall. The golden skinned youth was probably the offspring of the sun or something. Any help would be appreciated.
Wizard of Earthsea is definitely not the one. I don’t recall much magic in the book. It was kind of medieval but I guess not that tolkeinesque. Only two books in the series as I recall and not part of a huge saga. Each book would be relatively short.
