You can contact the manufacturer via EMail and ask about the history of that buckle. I have done so in the past and they were quite helpful. The company is now known as Great American Products. They continue to make belt buckles, and a whole bunch of other pewter-based promotional products. Some of their early buckles may also have been made of lead rather than pewter.
