The Inheritance (1978)

my aunt died leaving a inheritance to me in a Greek bank. I am wondering if its worth investigating?

in 1978 she had 1,157,900.00 (drachmas) in her account. it has been sitting there ever since. anybody have any idea what it could be worth now since the conversion to euros and years of hopefully compounded interest ? thanks

If there even was an account, it probably escheated a long time ago and proving that it’s yours is a pain to do to get it back from the state/government.

You would need to know the name of the bank. The account number. Prove that you were in the will. Prove that you are who you say you are. And, gee, if there has been income, also prove to your taxing authority that it wasn’t fraud that you failed to report this income all these years….

I’m amazed at the number of people who are convinced they have fortunes coming to them in the form of lost bank accounts, trust funds, insurance policies, land, etc…if only they could find it…and oh, darn, it’s all the fault of their wicked parent, aunt, uncle, etc for not telling them where it is.
