The Karate Kid Part II (1986)

How would you compare the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid to the Original Karate Kid films?

How would you compare the 2010 remake of the Karate Kid to the Original Karate Kid films, particularly, The Karate Kid (1984) and The Karate Kid, Part II (1986)?

I’m a big fan of the Original Karate Kid films, particularly, the first two films, The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid, Part II, my favorite is the second film, because of the setting location and all the Japanese culture represented in the film…

I didn’t like The Karate Kid III, it lacked the Japanese culture represented in the second film, and more so the awful Next Karate Kid, that film lacked everything that the first and second film presented and destroyed the Karate Kid franchise…

Now I haven’t seen the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid yet, but I want to hear some opinions before I go and see it in the theater, before I waste my money, thanks…

I am not one to have a problem with sequels or remakes. some people will not even give remakes a chance. that said I too am a fan of the original KK and KK2. this new one with jackie chan and jaden smith does not come even close to matching the original. by no means is it a horrible movie even by judging it on its own merits and not comparing it to the original. the first half was a little bit tedious, but the second half was okay. I would suggest waiting for it to hit dvd in a few months and not pay the full theater price. it was also almost exactly the same storyline and script of the original.
