Does anyone know of a film called ‘The Little Ark’?
from 1972, and if it’s available on video or dvd?

Yes, I do remember this film, a 1972 release, having seen it in the early Seventies on HBO. I just read the IMDB forum, where several people commented on this film not being available on DVD yet.
