The Magnificent Seven (1960)

Older people what are some good movies from the 1960’s?

And before. I don’t want to miss out on good movies just because they were before my time.

I already know of Magnificent Seven as my dad made me watch it when I was a kid and I thought it was good.

I think that all of the following were made in the 60s–even if they came out a bit later:
M*A*S*H*
Patton
The Way We Were
Barefoot In The Park
The Odd Couple
Pappion
Bonnie & Clyde
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
(the original James Bond movies = Sean Connery)
Don’t Give Up the Ship
Rosemary’s Baby
Peyton Place (the movie)
(Oh, how could I forget) the original “Ocean’s 11″ with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr…the whole ‘ratpack’

You should go to Turner Classic Movies site–I think it’s TCM.com–they have a lot–and can even send you their monthly listings. (Also see AMC.com–American Movie Classics).

You can also go to IMDb.com, to see about movies from all times.

Akira Kurosawa's rousing Seven Samurai was a natural for an American remake--after all, the codes and conventions of ancient Japan and the Wild West (at least the mythical movie West) are not so very far apart. Thus The Magnificent Seven effortlessly turns samurai into cowboys (the same trick worked more than once: Kurosawa's Yojimbo became Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars). The beleaguered den...
