What can I do about my sister-in-law, (my husband’s brother’s wife)?

My sister-in-law treats us well when we are with her, but we always initiate traveling to their home. She and my brother in law have never stayed with us and have one excuse or another for why they don’t. She just seems to keep her/my husband’s side of the family at arms length , but her side visits often and she will go visit them as well. She is an only child, with an older step sister. I’ve known her since 1999 and it’s like I just met her because I don’t know her any better than I did then. It’s really difficult b/c our husbands are identical twins and love to spend time together, but I feel like WE are the ones to always make the effort. My husband will mention this to his brother, but his brother will blow it off and change the subject. It’s so frustrating. They say they want our children to be so close, but I guess it’s at our expense. Please help me to know what to do, other than ignore it and keep on going like we are right now.

I doubt you will ever learn the reason. Some people are just all talk and no action. She sounds like she isnt interested at all in relationships beyond her own family.
What would be nice is if your husband could talk his twin into a men’s only fishing (or whatever they both like to do) trip together a couple times a year. I have a feeling however he is whipped and it wont happen. There really isnt much you can do with people who just arent interested.
If you push it too hard it could get worse. You might just have to accept how things are.
